Frequently Asked Questions

Is Carpe Diem a school or a homeschool program?

Carpe Diem Learning Collective is a drop-off learning center designed to support homeschooling families. While we provide a flexible yet structured, school-like environment, we are not an accredited school. Parents remain the primary educators and we partner with them to enrich and support their chosen homeschool path.

What curriculum do you use?

We have created custom curriculum, blended with beneficial and supportive resources across subject areas and customize instruction based on each student’s level not just their age. Our educators pull from various resources to challenge and support every learner while meeting the goals families have set.

Do you SEPARATE core and enrichment days?

No, our days include both core and enrichment each day. We have found that this keeps learning balanced and exciting. Teaching core subjects and enrichment in the same day allows students to immediately apply what they’ve learned, which improves understanding, retention, and engagement. Our enrichment classes are intentionally designed to reinforce core skills like reading, writing, math, problem-solving, and critical thinking through hands-on, real-world application.

Do you offer support for children with special needs?

We welcome learners of all backgrounds and meet with each family to determine if our environment is a good fit. While we are not a therapeutic program, we aim to create a safe, structured, and nurturing space where diverse learners can thrive.

Will my child feel seen if they’re quiet, loud, gifted, or struggling?

Yes! Every child is invited in, exactly as they are. Our small group size, flexible pacing, and attention to how each child thinks and moves make sure no one is drowned out or pushed too fast.

What if my child is used to lots of screens or online learning?

We’ll meet them where they are, then expand the day to include hands-on labs, outdoor time, and real conversation. Screens are tools, not the whole story, and we build a fuller day around them.

Are parents required to stay on site or volunteer?

No, Carpe Diem is a drop-off program and parents are not required to stay on site. However, we encourage family involvement through field trips, special events, and optional volunteer opportunities. All volunteers must pass a background check to ensure a safe environment for all learners.

Do you follow a traditional school calendar?

No, we operate on a flexible, year-round calendar in conjunction with the Allen ISD calendar. While we observe major holidays and seasonal breaks, we also offer themed enrichment weeks, summer camp-style programming, and built-in vacation flexibility for traveling families. This allows for a consistent yet adaptable learning experience that supports homeschool rhythms.

How are tuition payments made? Can I pay monthly, or do I need to pay in full??

We offer flexible payment options to fit your family’s needs! Tuition can be paid in full at the start of the year, or you can choose to pay monthly. Payments are due by the 4th of each month. All payments are handled through our secure online portal for your convenience.

Are there any additional fees beyond tuition??

Yes, there is a yearly $50 Activity Fee per student for returning students, due at the start of the fall semester. This fee covers, special events, and activities. Beyond the yearly activity fee, field trips and occasional supply list will be the only additional expenses.

Do you offer summer programming?

Yes! our summer months (June & July) continue as full-day STEM camp experiences.
Families who travel may request a tuition pause, but programming remains active, hands-on, and academically supportive.

Do you test kids?

We observe, listen, and collect real work. When we do check skills, it’s quiet, quick, and kind just enough to know how to help, not to rank or stress.

Do learners get to help shape what they learn?

Yes. We often ask: what questions do you have? What do you want to try? Learning is co-designed. Teachers guide, but children steer parts of the journey.
